With a load capacity rating of 3 tons, the Big Red can be easily rolled under the vehicle that will be lifted courtesy of its extra-large, durable, and sturdy front wheels and easily maneuvered into position by its dual 360-degree swiveling casters. This is unlike other similar hydraulic floor jacks whereby both the front and rear wheels are somewhat fixed and cannot be positioned. To position the jack, one has to literally lift the rear or front of the jack for it to be maneuvered into place – directly underneath the lift points under the car.
What makes the Big Red quite different from other similar devices is that it comes with a rather long neck. Most floor jacks come with a lifting platform that sits about half an inch to about an inch from the base of the lifting arm. This requires you to �?pump’ the lever several times just so you can achieve the desired height. And if you’re going to lift a truck or an SUV with a very high ground clearance, it would take like eternity to position the lifting platform onto the lift points of the vehicle.

This significantly reduces the amount of time needed to raise the lifting arm especially on vehicles with very high ground clearances. Of course, if your vehicle is lowered, you can easily remove the neck extension so you can still maneuver the Big Red right under your car. There is just one minor hiccup about the Big Red: it’s China-made. This can be a real issue for those who are quite wary about things that are manufactured outside of the US. Nevertheless, for its price and a couple of distinct features, it’s still a worthy consideration.
